ACADEMIC QUALIFICATION: Studied in DD College, Keonjhar till 1983.

AWARDS/HONOURS: Received the Saroj Mahasuara Memorial Award as outstanding umpire in Bhubaneswar on Sept 6, 2010.

UMPIRING:

* Started officiating club and college level matches in 1981.
* Qualified as an OCA panel umpire in 1982-83.
* Started officiating inter-district and inter-university matches in 1983-84.
* Selected by the Board of Cricket Control of India (BCCI) to act as an umpire in the Triangular Series involving `A` teams of India, Australia and New Zealand at Chennai on September 21, 2008.
* Became an all-India panel umpire in 2005,
* Das is also the cricket secretary of Sambalpur District Athletic Association.
* Made his debut as an international umpire in the ODI between India and Sri Lanka at Barabati Stadium, Cuttack in 2009.(UPDATED: September 7, 2010.)
